Our Mission

At Solstice Hybrid Academy, our mission is to offer a “homeschool style” learning environment to parents and families who have traditional working hours, current homeschool families that would like additional guidance with curriculum or would like to have creative opportunities for their children to socialize and learn with peers. We encourage family involvement and invite parents to volunteer as part of the SHA team. We have a mission to learn, have fun, explore, and adventure every day. Our mission is for school to become more of a natural part of our human condition, not an obligation, by encouraging our students to pursue their interests and find purpose in their studies. Our mission is to help students love learning, and help families love the learning process.

Our Founder…

Sarah Harrington. Sarah is a certified teacher and has been teaching in public school for 10 years. She is also an artist. It is her artistic vision that has brought SHA into existence. Sarah always had a dream of renovating a school bus. Suddenly, it occurred that school bus could be an actual school for a small group of children. That day was when her son started public school. Sarah realized she wanted to be the one to teach him. She missed her son and wanted him to learn in a creative way that would nurture his curiosity, encourage his interests, and help him grow into the best version of himself. The only way to accomplish this was to homeschool now and not later. So, she bought a bus and started renovating. The vision took full STEAM and within a year Solstice Hybrid Academy was born!

Our Skoolie Classroom

With the bus in its final stages of construction, we plan to have it fully operational by June 2024. The bus will be a fully functional classroom on wheels, with kitchen and bathroom facilities built right on board. Over half the bus will be a student learning zone, where students will have their own workspace, storage, and plenty of floor room to work on different activities. Each day, we will spend about three hours on the Skoolie working, practicing mindfulness, and feeding our bodies and minds. The rest of the day is spent at an enrichment location. Students will have plenty of time to get up and move around throughout the workday. The best part of this is having the flexibility to go to different learning destinations each day. It’s a literal magic school bus!

EVERY DAY IS AN ADVENTURE
