Our Mission
At Solstice Hybrid Academy, our mission is to offer a “homeschool style” learning environment to parents and families who have traditional working hours and provide current homeschool students with additional guidance and creative opportunities for them to socialize and learn with peers. We encourage family involvement and invite parents to volunteer as part of the SHA team. We have a mission to learn, have fun, explore, and adventure every day.
We are open Year-round so you can enroll at any time of the year!
So there is no need to conform to a specific calendar, or find a summer camp. Your child can have a consistent regular routine with only a few breaks throughout to year to rest, relax, and reset.
There is our calendar for the 2025-2026 school year.

Our Founder…
Sarah Harrington. Sarah is a licensed teacher and has been teaching in public school for 10 years. She is also an artist. It is her artistic vision that has brought SHA into existence. In addition to her passion for the Arts, Sarah also has a passion for education. She wanted to provide her son, and other children, with a creative learning experience that would nurture their curiosity, encourage their interests, and help them grow into the best version of themselves. The only way to accomplish this was to homeschool now and not later. So, she bought a bus and started renovating. The vision took full STEAM and within a year Solstice Hybrid Academy was born!

The School Bus That Became a Classroom: An Alum’s Journey | Old Dominion University
Our Skoolie Classroom
Our fully converted school bus is a classroom on wheels, ready to take students on daily learning adventures! Equipped with heating and cooling, a microwave, and onboard bathroom facilities, the Skoolie is a fully functional mobile classroom designed for comfort and creativity. More than half of the bus is dedicated to student learning, featuring individual workspaces, storage, and ample floor space for hands-on activities.
Each day, we’ll spend around three hours on the bus engaging in focused work, practicing mindfulness, and nourishing both body and mind. The rest of the day is spent exploring enrichment locations—each one a new opportunity for discovery. With plenty of time built in for movement and flexibility to travel to inspiring destinations, every day feels like a journey.
